The ocean is perhaps the world’s most powerful resource. Immediately, it is easy to associate the forces of the sea with waves hitting the land, strong ocean currents and turbulent weather. Not least, the sea is connected with transport, food and maritime industries. You can experience the power of the sea from so many places, including from Romega.
We recently launched our first commercial, in which we have tried to shed light on the power of the sea. In the commercial, you experience the power of the sea from Roppestranda on Flø, from the bird rock on Runde and from the breakfast table of a family with small children on Sunnmøre.
A commercial from the home region
When it became clear that we were going to make Romega’s first commercial, it was natural that this was done in Sunnmøre. Romega has been researched and developed in Ørsta, and Sunnmøre itself stands as a clear foundation for the brand.
Norway’s fantastic coastline
According to figures from Statistics Norway (2013), Norway’s total coastline, with all fjords and bays, is the second longest in the world behind Canada. Norway has sea areas that are six times larger than the land areas. Here we are talking about large areas with enormous powers.
The coast outside Sunnmøre fills a marked part of the coastline. The sea is fresh, with a multitude of life. Not least, the herring has proven to thrive here. Every year, Norwegian spring-spawning herring lay a blanket of roe on the seabed off the Mørekysten, one of the few areas in the country. The strong ocean currents carry herring larvae far north to the Barets Sea, before the herring return west again.
Omega-3 from Møre
Romega is extracted from herring roe from Norwegian spring-spawning herring . The herring that is processed in Romega is fished along the Norwegian coast, and large quantities are taken from the sea off the Møre coast. Ørsta has long traditions in herring fishing, and the sea has for a long time been the basis for some of the most important local industries. Romega has therefore not only carried out research on Sunnmøre, but also large parts of the raw material are obtained from the sea off the coast of Møre.
