ROMEGA® PREMIUM

ROMEGA® PREMIUM

ROMEGA® PREMIUM is a superior source of Omega-3 derived from Arctic herring roe, with a high content of DHA and Choline bound to Phospholipids (Lyso–PC–DHA), which facilitates the active uptake of DHA into the brain, retina, and cell membranes, supporting the normal function of the nervous system, vision, heart, and skin regeneration.

Herring caviar – nature’s treasure for your health

Oil extracted from herring roe is much more than just omega-3—it is a unique combination of fatty acids and essential nutrients that provide optimal support to the body. It contains omega-3 phospholipids (PL-DHA, PL-EPA), phosphatidylcholine (PC), as well as specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs)—potent metabolites of omega-3 fatty acids that help combat inflammation and maintain cellular balance. The phospholipid-bound DHA (PL-DHA) and the inflammation-resolving mediators (SPMs) in herring roe oil contribute to human health by improving lipid metabolism regulation, enhancing anti-inflammatory activity, and maximizing DHA bioavailability.

Romega was developed by the Norwegian biotechnology company Arctic Bioscience and is the result of 20 years of research.
Health benefits of ROMEGA® caviar oil components

  • Improved lipid and glucose metabolism: Helps reduce triglyceride levels, increase HDL cholesterol, improve glucose tolerance, and lower non-esterified fatty acids (NEFAs).
  • Enhanced DHA absorption: DHA is essential for brain, eye, and skin development and function, but its absorption can be limited in certain forms. Consuming DHA bound to phospholipids (such as lysophosphatidylcholine, LPC-DHA) improves its transport into the brain and retina via specific carriers, according to recent research.
  • Neurogenesis and memory: DHA is a key component of brain cell membranes, and adequate levels are linked to improved memory and reduced risk of neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, DHA may promote neurogenesis and neuritogenesis—the formation of new neurons and nerve fibers.
  • Anti-inflammatory action: Mediated by SPMs, which suppress inflammation and apoptosis while promoting cell survival after injury. The high content of bioavailable DHA (22:6 ω-3) helps replace arachidonic acid (ω-6) in membrane phospholipids, thereby reducing the production of pro-inflammatory bioactive molecules and enhancing the endogenous synthesis of anti-inflammatory compounds and SPMs.
  • Cellular nutrition: Provides valuable structural components of human cell membranes, such as omega-3 phospholipids, which help maintain cellular functionality, support physical well-being, and promote healthy aging.

With just two small capsules daily, you ensure the brain, heart and eyes need EPA and DHA**.

** A daily intake of 250 mg of DHA and EPA contributes to the normal function of the heart, and a daily intake of 250 mg of DHA helps to maintain normal vision and normal brain function.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women are recommended a daily intake of 200 mg DHA in addition to the recommended daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids for adults, i.e. 250 mg DHA and EPA.

Nutritional content of Romega®

  • Provides 4.5 times more DHA and PL-DHA compared to krill oil.
  • Contains DHA and EPA mainly in the bioavailable phospholipid (PL-) form, rather than the triglyceride (TG-) form found in typical fish oils, contributing to faster and more efficient absorption in the body.
  • Rich in phosphatidylcholine (PC): a vital phospholipid for the integrity and function of cell membranes, offering benefits such as supporting brain health by providing choline for acetylcholine production and promoting cardiovascular health by aiding cholesterol transport. Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is the preferred carrier of DHA (Lyso-PC-DHA) across the blood–brain barrier (BBB), enabling efficient DHA enrichment of the brain.
  • Unique 3:1 DHA to EPA ratio to effectively meet the needs for brain and eye development and function, as well as to improve skin barrier performance and overall skin health.
  • Contains powerful lipid mediators (SPMs) such as Resolvins (RvD5, RvD2), Maresins (MaR1, MaR2), and Protectins (NPDx), which act on cellular receptors to promote the immune system’s regulatory function and protect against inflammatory disorders.
  • Contains Vitamin D, essential for bone health, normal immune and muscle function, and positively influencing mood by enhancing serotonin production.
  • Contains Vitamin E for antioxidant protection of eye cells against damage caused by free radicals.
  • The fatty substances in Romega® PREMIUM are water-dispersible (emulsion), ensuring excellent digestion without unpleasant acid reflux or fishy aftertaste.
  • Romega® is free from GMOs, shellfish, and other allergens, and does not contain gluten, lactose, or acidic ingredients.
  • Suitable for children (over 5 years old), pregnant, and breastfeeding women.

ROMEGA® – CLINICAL EVALUATION

Romega is being studied as a potential treatment for skin conditions such as psoriasis, primarily due to its unique composition of omega-3 fatty acids bound to phospholipids and its content of SPMs (Specialized Pro-resolving Mediators), which may help reduce inflammation.

Clinical trials have shown that supplementation with herring roe oil can lead to significant improvement in psoriasis symptoms and beneficially modulate immune cell function. Further research is ongoing to confirm its long-term efficacy and safety in various skin conditions.

The clinical investigation of the effectiveness of phospholipid-bound omega-3 forms from herring roe in ROMEGA® could address an unmet medical need for patients with mild psoriasis, offering a safer oral option to improve their quality of life.
